Numerous events, cultural, musical, sporting, take place throughout the year and there is a choice of River Beaches close by with clean water and good swimming.

For anyone considering the provision of tourist accommodation, Portugal’s Central Region is becoming an increasingly popular destination; this district, which is well worth exploring, has excellent road access to Coimbra, with both main line rail links and fast coach service, the airports of Porto and Lisbon and the Atlantic Coast, renowned for its beaches and surfing. Further afield, the Spanish ferry ports of Santander and Bilbao are within a day’s drive.
