Sitting on the edge of the charming town of Antrodoco, this apartment on two levels is a pleasant 10 minute stroll into the historic town centre and its friendly, bustling Piazza. With easy access to amenities and the surrounding natural beauty, it’s perfectly positioned close enough to the centre of town yet far enough away not to be too disturbed.

The property
Constructed in 1950, the building comprises two properties, each with a rich history of being passed down through generations.

Upon entering through the shared front door, a captivating stone staircase leads to the apartment door on the first level. To the immediate left is a spacious double bedroom with Juliet balcony, an addition made approximately 20 years ago. On the opposite side lies the kitchen, separated by two doors and a terrazzo landing space. Characterised by terracotta tiles and wood panelled half walls, wood effect cabinetry and white goods line one side of the kitchen, whilst a four seater marble topped table sits opposite. Within the kitchen footprint is a deep recessed space which hosts a large ceramic sink and ample storage space.

A minimal but elegant archway connects the kitchen to the dining area, ensuring a seamless flow between the two primary living spaces. Here, soft pink walls also contribute to an airy and inviting atmosphere. The north facing living/dining room can comfortably accommodate eight people and features an open fireplace and full width balcony.

Towards the south end of the plan, an enclosed shower room, WC, bidet, and washbasin provide all necessary amenities in a simple yet functional space.

Ascending to the second level via another stone staircase are two generous double bedrooms, both with charming Juliet balconies which bring in plenty of light.

Between the two rooms is also an under-eaves storage space which is ideal for keeping items such as wine cool, and once served as a dry pantry.

In addition, the property comes with an sizeable working cellar, or 'cantina'. With easy access from street level, the 'cantina' has water, power & light. Over the years, this space has served as the venue for pressing and bottling thousands of litres of wine and olive oil.

While the apartment is habitable, it may require some contemporary renovation.

Note: Antrodoco has been known to suffer from the odd earthquake, the property itself however has never been affected due to its positioning.

Antrodoco
A historic and picturesque town with the river Velino running through its centre. It has seen much investment & restoration in recent years and is notable for its proximity to Gran Sasso and Terminillo mountains, the former famous for its hiking and the latter as a ski resort.

This is the perfect place to escape the hot Italian summers, where the sun promises to still shine bright, but at 500m altitude a fresh breeze keeps you cool. Although in the foothills of the mountains and far from the sea, the wonderful swimming lake of Cutilia is accessible by road in only 15 mins.

The town has a friendly sense of community and is embedded in cultural folklore. As is common in many Italian towns, a Patron saint is celebrated each year with a procession through the flower adorned streets. From the apartment the ceremony is easily viewed and greatly admired. Between spring and summer, several other festivities form part of the social and cultural calendar, with medieval carnivals, culinary street parties and chestnut festivals, all of which are attended by surrounding villages.
