MASIA CAN MOLAS HISTORIC SITE MANOR IN BARCELONA'S COAST

The historic Masia Can Molas, a Catalan manor at the Barcelona’s Maresme coast, is considered an architectural jewel. Composed by 14th C. house, 15th C. tower, attached cellar and barn with stable and carriage park, both 18th C.
Square floor plan tower comprise basement and 4 floors connected by snail stair, gothic carved windows, loopholes and machicolations. The later built Chinese inspired four sheds tile roof supported by wooden beams structure on the crenels and is crowned with green enameled ceramic pinnacle.
The original house “masia” two sheds tile roof, in 1753 the new owner reformation added the sinuous façade, baroque style of the time, crowned with ceramic pinnacles.
The forecourt is closed by walls with two double eaves tile roof and stone arched entrance gates, and balustrade and pergola offering panoramic views of the village and the sea.
In front of the house, the square reservoir is enclosed by an eight arches portico and features a stone statue fountain flowing own spring water.
The 1927’s reformation was conducted by renowned Catalan architect Isidre Puig Boada.
New beams on parts of the house and new beams and floors on the cellar, have been replaced in 1996. Its current condition is good.
1.) House. Ground: entrance hall, lining and dining-room, inner living room with hearth, distribution room with 18th C. tiles hand basin, toilet & shower, laundry room, kitchen, office and pantry. 1st.: stairs to distributor landing with skylight, wardrobe’s inner room, grande salle with gothic stone arch and mullioned window, 3 bedrooms, one with attached bathroom, dressing room and bathroom.
2.) Tower. Ground: room with 2 windows, a loophole and stone arched door to the house. 1st.: room with access to snail stairs to upper floors, a carved window and an arched door to the house. 2nd.: bedroom, with carved window, loophole, one double and one single beds. 3rd. : bedroom, with carved window, 2 loopholes with 3 single beds.
4th.: watching-living room, with 6 windows, 2 loopholes and 3 machicolations.
3.) Wine cellar. New roof and 1st floor beams built in 1990.
Ground: 2 square angled naves house for a 18th. C wooden wine press and wooden barrels, entrance door from the frontcourt, with 2 doors, 3 windows. 1st.: 3 rooms with 2 windows and oak floor. One big loft with another small room half floor up.
4. Barn house. New roof built in 1990. Ground: Stable for a horse and arched open room for a carriage. 1st.: Barn with a porch and a big room with three windows and door.
The estate is composed by four differentiated outdoor spaces: 1st. The frontcourt with two single car garages. 2nd. Land in front of the balustrade, at road level, 2 entrances, suitable for 40 cars park. 3rd. Rose and fruit trees garden, walkways, sunbath terrace with bench and pergola. 4th. Two terraces of land at the south-west with panoramic sea views. Pedestrian entrance.
With its special attraction and beauty, the property retains its old feudal aspect.
This manor, due to its historical, architectural and artistic features is a listed property as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN).
